ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
Conservation Districts are unique subdivisions of state government; the only local unit of government responsible for coordinating the conservation of our soil, water, land, forests, and other natural resources. Because each conservation district develops its own programs to suit the needs of the people in its county, local citizens play an important role at all levels of district organization. Districts are governed by a volunteer board of directors, made up of area farmers and other interested members of the public, such as woodlot owners, each with a vested interest in the county's natural resources.
District programs range from science-based conservation efforts to serving as a clearinghouse for public information and education. The __________ Conservation District advances its programs by creatively linking the support of individuals, organizations, and agencies equally committed to the wise use of our natural resources.
