PACD Announces Section 319 Mini-Project Grant Recipients

The Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Inc. (PACD), has recently announced the projects approved for the 2002-2003 Pennsylvania Section 319 Nonpoint Source Pollution Mini-Project Program. The Mini-Project Program provides grants of up to $1,000 to grassroots organizations dedicated to protecting local water quality and Pennsylvania's water resources.

The funded projects are:

  • Blair Conservation District (Blair County): Living Within Your Watershed, How to Make it a Success

  • Cambria Conservation District (Cambria County): Cambria County Nutrient Management Education Displays

  • Centre Conservation District (Centre County): Best Management Practices - Soil Erosion Control Field Tour

  • Fayette Conservation District (Fayette County): 2003 Fayette County Children's Water Festival

  • Indiana Conservation District (Indiana County): Poster Contest/We All Live Downstream T-Shirts

  • Jefferson Conservation District (Jefferson County): Stream Table Demonstrations

  • Lebanon Conservation District (Lebanon County): Lebanon County Watershed Forum

  • Mifflin Conservation District (Mifflin County): Mifflin County Innovative Stormwater Design Workshop

  • Pike Conservation District (Pike County): The Combined Impacts of Drought and Non-point Source Pollution on Water Resources

  • Pike Conservation District (Pike County): Best Management Practices for Special Protection Watersheds - Part II

While the participating organizations have each taken their own unique approach to improving water quality, their objectives are one in the same. Each project will expand awareness about the problem of nonpoint source water pollution in Pennsylvania, demonstrate the value of new and innovative ways to address nonpoint source pollution, and encourage target audiences to take action to reduce nonpoint source pollution, improve water quality, and help protect their local watershed.

The Mini-Projects Program is administered by the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Inc. Funding for the program is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Section 319 Program.
