Register Today for the JAC

The registration deadline for the PACD/SCC Joint Annual Conference, June 20, is fast approaching. The conference will be held July 20-22 at the Ramada Inn, Altoona, PA.

Program and registration materials have been mailed to every
director. They are also available online at www.pacd.org.

Be sure to make your room reservations before June 20. Ask for the PA Association of Conservation Districts room block when making reservations.

Representatives from the central region worked hard to put the conference together. Help make it a success by registering today.

Highlights will include tours of projects of conservation interest such as the Cambira CoGen Company plant that will take you inside the award winning facility that burns waste coal to make electric power
and steam. Another tour will be of the Glenwhite Run Watershed Restoration Project. Experience firsthand the restoration of a watershed impacted by abandoned mine drainage. This project has restored 5.8 miles of stream leading to the City of Altoona's drinking water system.

NACD President Gary Mast, former Secretary of Agriculture Samuel Hays and Secretary of Agriculture and SCC Chair Dennis C. Wolff are also scheduled to be at the conference.

The PACD Awards Luncheon will honor the PACD award and Clean Water Farm Award recipients. Be sure to attend and meet these
citizens working with their districts to make a difference. The winners in the poster and annual report contests will also be announced during the
luncheon.

The planned Auxiliary activities are varied and extensive. Be sure to register family or friends for the auxiliary program via the Auxiliary Registration Form.

Finally, don't miss the baseball game and all-you-can-eat barbeque that will wrap-up the conference activities.

The conference theme is Come Together Right Now! Promoting better working relationships. This can be best accomplished if each district sends at least one representative to the conference. See you in July!

Silent Auction Donations

Please consider donating items for the PACD silent auction to be held
during the PACD/SCC Joint Annual Conference. The funds raised from the auction will be used toward the Building Renovation Project. Each district should have received a donation form via fax. There is also a line on the Conference Registration Form for silent auction donations.

Any items you can contribute will be appreciated. And don't forget to bid on these items during the Conference!
