Celebration to Center on the Susquehanna
Each year, PACD hosts the Susquehanna River Celebration as part of
its grant activities. Financial support for the event is provided through
an education grant with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental
Protection. The event not only educates participants about water quality,
it also promotes districts and the work they do in their local communities.
If you are going to be in the Harrisburg area Saturday, June 5, bring
your family to spend the day at the river, enjoying the Susquehanna
River Celebration. This year's Celebration takes place 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
at Harrisburg's Carousel Pavilion on City Island. The event will be
held rain or shine and admission is free.
The event's theme is We All Live Downstream. The festival will
include games for children, exhibits, music, crafts and good food. New
for this year, join two local naturalists for a guided ride aboard the
Pride of the Susquehanna Riverboat (discounted tickets will be available
for this activity). What better way to spend quality family time than
during the Susquehanna River Celebration? Call (717) 238-7223 for more
information.
The event is co-sponsored by the PA Chesapeake Bay Education Office
(administered by the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts,
Inc.), the City of Harrisburg, and The River 97.3 WRVV.
