News & Notes November 2002PACD Accepting Applications for The Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Inc. (PACD) is accepting applications, through December 15, 2002, for the 2003 Section 319 Nonpoint Source Pollution Prevention and Pennsylvania Chesapeake Bay Educational Mini-Project Grant Programs. The educational mini-project programs provide organizations with an opportunity to implement unique approaches that address local concerns. The ultimate goal of the mini-projects is to encourage target audiences to take action to reduce nonpoint source pollution in an effort to improve local and downstream water quality within a watershed. Section 319 grants typically support grassroots projects that help to improve local water quality and the overall health of Pennsylvania's watersheds. Chesapeake Bay grants support projects within the Chesapeake Bay Drainage Basin that improve the condition of the Bay Watershed while promoting the theme, We All Live Downstream. Approved projects must be completed by May 2003. PACD administers the Mini-Project Grant Program in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Funding is provided through the Pennsylvania Chesapeake Bay Program and the EPA's Section 319 Program. Additional information and grant application forms can be found on the PACD website. Go to the PACD website: http://www.pacd.org, and click on "Grant Assistance." Interested organizations are encouraged to review the catalog of previously funded projects when developing ideas. The catalog can be found online under the "Grant Assistance" menu. Questions regarding the Mini-Project program may be directed to PACD Education Specialist Yvonne Harhigh at 717-238-PACD (7223), or by e-mail at yvonne-harhigh@pacd.org. DATES TO REMEMBER
