News & Notes September 2001PACD President Encourages Committee Participation One of the areas that the PACD Participation Task Force is in the process of addressing is the refining and streamlining of the PACD committee structure. PACD President Ron Rohall has asked that conservation district directors and staff, as well as representatives of partnering agencies, consider participating in PACD committee activities. The Task Force considers the project a high priority and the changes will take effect before the next PACD Meeting. Under the new committee structure, committee chairs will advise the PACD on issues of importance to conservation districts and present policies with supporting information to be voted on during an Executive Council meeting. The PACD Bylaws require that at least three district directors serve on each committee. E-mail will be used as the primary means of communication between committee members, as well as correspondence and interaction outside of PACD Executive Council meetings. Concurrent committee meetings, at statewide PACD meetings, will no longer be held. In addition, the PACD website will be restructured to include a committee section, complete with minutes of committee minutes, as well as committee contacts and issues. Each committee will have it’s own page, which will be used as an interactive tool for committee business. The pages will be added to www.pacd.org, as committee membership is determined in the near future. The goal is to increase the level of participation, and in-turn productivity, of the committees while limiting travel at the same time. If you have an interest in a PACD committee, your participation is welcomed. Please contact either PACD Executive Director Susan Fox at Susan-Marquart@pacd.org, 717-238-PACD (7223), or PACD President Ron Rohall at rjrohall@westol.com. Look the new committee listings on pacd.org in the near future.
