News & Notes April 2001DEP Slates Forums to Address Water Resource Needs The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), in partnership with the Pennsylvania Departments of Agriculture, Community and Economic Development and Conservation and Natural Resources has scheduled 12 public forums addressing water resources needs for the state. The forums, titled “Water – Is Our Future Draining Away,” will provide an arena for discussion on current and future water resources issues in Pennsylvania. The PACD encourages conservation district staff and directors to attend the meetings and provide input regarding their local water resource needs and concerns. The PACD is presently evaluating its water resources policy and welcomes any feedback from conservation district representatives. Two questions will be posed to the audiences at each of the forums: What one water resource need or issue do you feel needs the greatest attention in your community; and, What tools do we need to help ensure adequate water supplies in Pennsylvania? The forums are free and registration is not required to attend. The
forums will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the following locations:
· April 16 – Bucks County (Bensalem), Holiday Inn For more information, please visit the DEP website at: www.dep.state.pa.us , (direct link, “Water Resources”), or contact Kimberly Chism at the DEP Office of Water Management, 717-772-5807.
