PACD Announces Annual Award Winners

The Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Inc. (PACD) is proud to announce its 2002 Conservation Awards recipients. They are:

Annual Report of the Year:
Berks County Conservation District

Ann Rudd Saxman Conservation Volunteer of the Year:
Robert Arnold - Lebanon County

Conservation Educator of the Year:
Lynn Aponik - Lebanon County

Conservation Farmer of the Year:
Larry and Roger Dice (Para-Dice Farms) - Franklin County

Conservation Organization of the Year:
The Eastern Pennsylvania Coalition of Abandoned Mine Reclamation (EPCAMR) - Luzerne County

County Commissioner District Director of the Year:
John H. Eichelberger Jr. - Blair County

Erosion and Sedimentation Control:
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc. - Bedford County

Legislator Recognition:
Rep. Edward Staback - Lackawanna County

Media Conservation Award:
WHTM Television (ABC 27) - Cumberland County

M.K. Goddard Forest Resource Management Award:
George C. Bowman Jr. - Lebanon County

Special Conservation Service Award:
Brad Clemensen - Cambria County

Watershed Protection Award:
Quittapahilla Watershed Association - Lebanon County

William Lange Urban Conservation Award:
William Krupa - Cambria County

PACD Conservation Poster Contest:

  • Leah Kuhn (York County) - Kindergarten to First Grade;

  • Julie Ivicic (Centre County) - Second to Third Grade;

  • Alisha Webb (Bedford County) - Fourth to Sixth Grade;

  • Molly Lower (York County) - Seventh to Ninth Grade; and

  • Melissa Hullihan (Northumberland County) - Tenth to Twelfth Grade.

The PACD annually presents awards to individuals and organizations that conduct or help support conservation efforts in Pennsylvania. The 2002 awards recipients will be recognized during a luncheon ceremony that highlights their accomplishments on Monday, July 22, at the Harrisburg Hilton and Towers, in Harrisburg, PA.

The ceremony is held in conjunction with the Joint Annual Conference of the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Inc. (PACD), and the State Conservation Commission.
