PACD Awards Program to Undergo Scheduling Changes

Although only weeks have passed since the memorable 2000 PACD Awards Program, preparations are already being made for the 2001 Awards activities.

The 2001 PACD Awards Program will include some significant changes, most notably, the program will be held in July, due to a revision in the PACD meeting schedule.

In order to insure that there is appropriate time to complete the judging and make the necessary arrangements for the Awards Program ceremony, the deadline for nominations is Feb. 28, 2001.

Judging for the awards will be conducted during the March 2001 PACD meeting. Districts submitting entries to the PACD Poster Contest should send their posters to the PACD office, no later than May 30, 2000.

The 2001 Awards Program is an umbrella activity including the Pennsylvania Chesapeake Bay Clean Water Farm Awards, the Goodyear/NACD Conservation Awards and the PACD Conservation Awards.

The PACD Conservation Awards include:

  • Ann Rudd Saxman Conservation Volunteer of the Year
  • Conservation District Annual Report of the Year
  • Conservation Educator of the Year
  • Conservation Farmer of the Year
  • Conservation Organization of the Year
  • County Commissioner District Director of the Year
  • Erosion and Sedimentation Pollution Control
  • Media Conservation
  • M.K. Goddard Forest Resource Management
  • Legislator Recognition
  • PACD Poster Contest
  • Special Conservation Service
  • Watershed Protection

Information on the Clean Water Farm Awards, as well as each of the awards listed above is available on the PACD website: www.pacd.org.

To access the summary information and appropriate nomination forms, click on: “About PACD,” then “Award Programs.” By paging through the listing on the website you can find the instructions and nomination forms for the respective awards.

Self-evaluation forms for the Goodyear/NACD Conservation Awards have been mailed to each conservation district chair. Evaluations must be completed and submitted to DEP by March 31, 2001. The self-evaluation forms for the Goodyear/NACD Awards will be posted on the PACD website later this month.

Anyone requiring additional information, or anyone without web access, is asked to contact Chuck Rohrer at the PACD office, 717-238-PACD (7223), or by e-mail at pacd@pacd.org. As noted, most information pertaining to the Awards Program can be found on the PACD website.

Helpful Hints: Surfing the PACD Website

PACD has found that often times the quickest and most efficient way to get news and information out to conservation district personnel is through the use of the association’s website at: www.pacd.org.

However, we realize that until you become familiar with the site, you may have some difficulties locating the information you need. In order to expedite your search, we suggest you check the “Site Map.”

The site map, located in the top right corner of the homepage, provides links to each menu item on the various directories throughout the site. It should be helpful to point you in the right direction.

In the event that you can not locate something that should be there, let us know. Call the PACD office, 717-238-PACD (7223), or send an e-mail to pacd@pacd.org.
