Honor Someone Special With a Gift to the PACD Endowment
Fund
Wondering why there is an envelope enclosed with this issue of News
and Notes? The PACD Endowment Committee has enclosed it as an easy way
for you to donate to the Endowment Fund.
The Endowment Fund was established to provide funds for efforts that
"aid and/or promote conservation efforts in Pennsylvania,"
according to the PACD bylaws. Contributions to the Fund are tax deductible,
and are a great way to recognize a birthday, retirement or other special
occasion, or to honor the memory of someone.
Sam Worley, a Franklin County Conservation District Director, was elected
chairman of the Endowment Committee at the October PACD meeting. During
the meeting, Committee members reviewed the Endowment Committee bylaws
and made plans to increase contributions and donor recognition levels.
Donations to the Endowment Fund are placed in an interest-bearing account.
PACD may spend only interest from the Fund each year for activities
approved by the Endowment Fund Committee.
The Committee plans to develop a program to solicit large donations
to help raise the Fund to a million dollars. But, as Worley reminds
everyone, "Gifts of $10, 25, or $50 add up over time and help to
build the Fund, also."
