PACD Engineering Assistance: Staff Spotlight (part IV)

In previous issues of News and Notes, PACD announced that its Engineering Assistance Program is now fully staffed, and provided introductions to the Engineering Assistance Teams stationed in Lebanon, Somerset and Bloomsburg, PA. This will be the final staff spotlight for our Engineering Assistance Team, as we introduce the staff from the Clarion office.

Thomas Wilkinson, Conservation Engineering Specialist: Tom Wilkinson was raised in Ohio and attended college at the University of Akron. He has worked with a stormwater management company in Kansas City, Missouri, and an environmental engineering firm in Cleveland, Ohio. He was raised on a farm and worked as a farm hand on a large dairy operation while growing up. His professional interests have always been focused on the outdoors and the environment. Tom's first job out of college was as a co-op with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. He plans to take his Professional Engineer exam this April, and hopes to continue working in the conservation field through the remainder of his career. Last year, Tom participated in his first competitive triathlon and said that despite suffering a back injury, that he is hooked on racing. He plans to return to racing competition shortly. Other hobbies include fishing, gardening and traveling.

Justin Griebel, Conservation Technician: Justin is a recent graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He has also earned a professional certification in Computer Aided Drafting and Design. "I was eager to become involved with the PACD so that I could apply the knowledge and skills that I've acquired while growing up in a farming community, combined with the engineering skills I learned during college," Justin said. During the short amount of time he has spent with PACD, Justin has been involved with various agricultural waste management projects, stream restorations and mine reclamation projects. In his spare time he enjoys playing basketball and football, as well as spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and skiing.
