News & Notes February 2003PACD Purchases Headquarters Building The Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Inc. (PACD) made history of its own recently, purchasing a building to serve as its permanent headquarters. Settlement on the property, 25 North Front Street in Harrisburg, occurred January 24, 2003. "PACD has been searching for some time for a building that would meet our current operational needs, plus those in the years ahead," said Ron Rohall, PACD President. "This building meets the criteria outlined by our members to do just that. It is an investment in the association's future." Purchase of the building culminates a multi-year effort by PACD. In 1998, the association's Executive Board established the PACD Building Fund, earmarked to support activities related to purchase of a building. Staff then began the search for a building with direction from PACD officers and members. The three-story building has approximately 7,000 square feet of office
space, on-site parking and a riverfront view. It is within walking distance
of the State Capitol, the Rachel Carson State Office Building and the
Department of Education.
