Holiday Open House

On Monday, December 22, PACD held an open house for its new headquarters building. District directors, staff and personnel from the conservation partnership and other organizations and agencies were in attendance. Visitors were treated to a guided tour of the building and light refreshments.

PACD Poster Contest and Awards Update

The poster contest themes for 2004 are the NACD Poster Contest theme, "The Living Soil" and the National Wildlife Week theme, "What's Your Habitat?"

If you refer teachers to www.nwf.org for supporting educational materials for the poster contest, please note that the National Wildlife Federation won't have their poster and concurrent information for teachers released until February.

PACD is now accepting nominations for the 2004 PACD Poster Contest, the Chesapeake Bay Clean Water Farm Award and the PACD Conservation Awards. Click on http://www.pacd.org/about/award_progr.htm to access information and applications for these award programs.

The PACD Conservation Award nominations and Chesapeake Bay Clean Water Farm Award nominations are due February 28, 2004. The Poster Contest and Annual Report entries are due May 30, 2004.

"Key Steps to a Successful Project" Workshop Slated

Western Pennsylvania Conservancy's Watershed Assistance Center is proud to present a one-day workshop entitled "Key Steps to a Successful Project." This presentation is part of a Growing Greener Technical Assistance Grant. The workshop will focus on key subject areas including: project planning, proposal preparation, developing requests for proposals and consultant contracts, and working with consultants. The workshop is designed to give watershed specialists, watershed managers and watershed groups a holistic approach to restoration and long-term sustainability.

This is a hands-on, cost-free workshop. Registration is required. The Lycoming Conservation District has agreed to host the workshop supported by the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts (PACD) using their DEP/EPA Section 319 grant for Education & Outreach. The workshop will be held on February 4th at 9:30am at the Lycoming County Conservation District. Visit the PACD website for directions to the workshop: http://www.pacd.org/events/lycoming.htm.
