PACD Winter Region Meetings: LDC to Present District Director Orientation Program

The Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Inc. (PACD) will host its 2002 winter region meetings, beginning later this month and running through late February. Plan on attending to stay in touch with issues affecting Pennsylvania’s conservation districts and their personnel. The region meetings provide an excellent opportunity to network and discuss Association business matters in a small setting, prior to the next statewide PACD meeting held in March.

The main topic featured at each of the upcoming sessions is a Director Orientation, presented by Joanne Nardone, of the Department of Environmental Protection and the Leadership Development Committee. The Director Orientation program will provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of a conservation district director. The orientation was designed to provide new directors with an understanding of the network of organizations that make up Conservation Partnership, and the activities and duties that are required of a district director.

“It’s something that all the directors can benefit from,” Nardone said. “There’s really no substitute for directors from other districts coming together and having an interactive discussion. With all the growth that the conservation districts are going through, sharing their experiences with one another becomes very useful.”

In addition to the Director Orientation, the region meetings will include activity reports from the executive directors of the PACD and State Conservation Commission, as well as regional business items.

PACD members are invited to attend the State Council of Farm Organization’s annual Cornucopia reception, held with state legislators. Details of the event will be announced in the February issue of News and Notes.
