PACD Strategic Plan to be Updated

The PACD would like to update its strategic plan in the fall of 2003. The last strategic planning session held by the association took place in the spring of 2001. With the recent swearing in of a new governor in Pennsylvania and a new PACD President beginning in July 2003, the Executive Board believes that this is the appropriate time to update the association's strategic plan.

The PACD Executive Board developed a planning process that involves as many members as possible. You are invited to provide input and establish goals for the association. In order to accomplish this, the fall 2003 PACD Region Meetings will be used to obtain input from the membership.

The PACD will utilize between one and two hours of time at the fall PACD region meetings. Directors and staff attending the meetings will break into small groups to discuss their ideas and develop group input that will be utilized by the strategic planning team.

An overview of the process that the PACD will utilize for revising its strategic plan in 2003 will be as follows:

1. The PACD Executive Board will approve the strategic planning process that will be utilized (June).

2. A PACD Strategic Planning Team will be established to utilize the input obtained from members at the region meetings and compile the new strategic plan (June-July).

3. The PACD members will be informed about the strategic planning process and their involvement in an article in the PACD newsletter (July).

4. The individual input form will be provided as an insert in the same newsletter (July).

5. DEP Field Representatives and PACD Region Directors will be recruited at the PACD Region Directors and Field Reps meeting at the JAC in July to assist in the process of obtaining input from members at the fall 2003 PACD Region Meetings

6. A reminder of the strategic planning process and publicity for PACD fall region meetings will appear in the August and September newsletters.

7. The Executive Director will attend the PACD Region Meetings and instruct the members on the process to obtain their input on the PACD strategic plan. PACD Region Directors and DEP Field Reps will assist (September 15-29).

8. The PACD Strategic Planning Team will utilize the input obtained from members at the region meetings and compile the new strategic plan (October 9-10).

9. The Strategic Plan will be presented to the members at the fall PACD meeting October 29-31 in State College, PA for approval by Executive Council.

Help Us By Providing Input

Please bring only one individual member input form per person to the region meeting. It is fine to have your district board fill out a form at your board meeting, but please just send one form per person.
