Shane Kleiner was recently selected to be the new PA Department of
Environmental Protection (DEP) Conservation District Field Representative
for the Northeast Region replacing Karl Dymond who moved to a position
with the State Conservation Commission. Shane was the manager at Wyoming
County Conservation District for nine years until he took a position
as DEP Chesapeake Bay Field Representative in Williamsport. Shane, who
lives in Wyoming County, said while he enjoyed his position as Chesapeake
Bay Field Representative, the commute was just too long.
What does Shane think of his new position as Conservation District Field
Representative? "I've always enjoyed serving districts. That's
why I was a manager for nine years." Shane also hopes to help improve
education and outreach efforts in his region. Another goal he has is
to improve communication between the districts and the state DEP office.
As a former manager, he knows how important the field representatives
are in connecting conservation districts with the DEP staff in Harrisburg.
Shane can be contacted at shkleiner@state.pa.us.
