Volunteers to Attend “Local Motion” Coaching Session

As a follow-up to the “Local Motion” Business Planning seminars held throughout the state this spring, a number of conservation district and agency representatives will attend a coaching session with Ray Ledgerwood of NACD, so they can in turn, lead the state conservation districts through the planning process.

The coaching session is scheduled for June 25, and will be held in the Harrisburg area. Approximately 14 volunteers have signed up to attend the session. Their services will be made available to help districts with their business planning efforts. The “Local Motion” Business Planning Program, conducted in April 2001, was funded by a Leadership Development Grant through the State Conservation Commission.

The goal of the training was to provide conservation district staff with the necessary training and information to allow them to develop their own business plan, tailored to meet the needs of their district. Upon completion of the “Local Motion” Program, a number of districts had requested additional assistance to begin developing their own business planning.

The coaching session, which will use the latest technology to link Ray Ledgerwood in Washington State to the group in Harrisburg, will provide additional training for individuals who have volunteered to help districts with their planning process.
