News & Notes March 20012001 NACD Spring Legislative Conference The 2001 National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) Spring Legislative Conference will be held on March 25-27 at the Washington Court Hotel in Washington, D.C. The conference provides conservation leaders from Pennsylvania and across the nation an opportunity to interact with key national decision-makers on major issues affecting the conservation of private lands. Issues such as the 2002 Farm Bill, conservation funding and grazing lands are among the many topics to be addressed during the conference. In addition NACD plans to address how effective grassroots lobbying can help to advance natural resource conservation priorities on private lands. Pennsylvania's conservation leaders are encouraged to join with leaders from across the nation to discuss critical policy issues, interact with the 107th Congress and the Bush Administration and help to shape their policy agendas for the upcoming year. Conference activities begin on Sunday, March 25, with a review of legislative issues facing the conservation partnership and a reception in the evening. On March 26 members of Congress and the Bush Administration will provide perspective on pending conservation policy, and on March 27, conference attendants will have the opportunity to visit with their local representatives. Registration information is available on NACD's website: www.nacdnet.org.
