French Creek and Monocacy River Watersheds Added to CSP Program

Two Pennsylvania watersheds, French Creek and Monocacy River, were selected for the 2006 USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service's (NRCS) Conservation Security Program (CSP). Farmers within Adams, Crawford, Erie, Mercer, Venango and south-eastern parts of Franklin County may apply to NRCS for the opportunity to receive payments based on the conservation work they have done in past years.

This voluntary program recognizes and rewards farmers for their ongoing stewardship activities on working agricultural lands. Nationally, the 2006 program will cover 60 watersheds. More than 75,000 farms and ranches are within these 60 watershed boundaries covering more than 25 million acres. The sign-up period will be held February 13 through March 31, 2006. For specific program requirements and sign-up information, visit http://www.nrcs.usda.gov/programs/csp.
