News & Notes November 2001NRCS/Districts Earn High Marks from Farmers The United States Department of Agriculture – Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) recently participated in the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI). Results of the index, which were just released, demonstrated that local farmers are very pleased with the quality of conservation technical assistance they are receiving. The ACSI is a national indicator of customer evaluations of the quality of goods and services available to United States Residents. According to the results of the most recent ACSI, landowners who have received conservation technical assistance in the last year rated the quality of the assistance at 81 of a possible 100 points. When compared to private sector technical assistance services, NRCS and state conservation districts scored significantly higher. NRCS also scored a considerably higher rating than other Federal Government technical assistance services. In addition to earning a high satisfaction index rating, conservation technical assistance users felt that the services they are receiving have been quite reliable, giving NRCS a trust index of 90 out of 100 points. The data collected by ACSI shows that service users value the convenience, usefulness, accessibility and clarity of conservation technical assistance. In general, it conveys that the overwhelming majority of farmers and ranchers nationwide are pleased with the conservation technical assistance they are receiving.
