News & Notes October 2002District Directors Wanted: Do you have a good relationship with your federal congressman? If
so, the PACD Legislative Committee could use your help. The committee
is looking for volunteers to serve as liaisons between the Association
and the congressmen representing Pennsylvania's 19 legislative districts. The federal legislative contacts will be asked to maintain the lines
of communication between PACD and the National Association of Conservation
Districts (NACD) and Pennsylvania's representatives in the United States
Congress. The legislative contacts will be responsible for keeping their
congressman informed about issues and budgetary concerns affecting conservation
efforts at the local, state and national levels. Information will be
relayed through communications from NACD, PACD Executive Director Susan
Fox, or Legislative Committee Co-Chair Pat Sueck. The PACD Legislative Committee will meet at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, October
30, as part of the PACD Fall Meeting. Any director with an interest
to help PACD in this capacity is asked to attend the meeting or, contact
Molly Burns at the PACD office, 717-238-PACD (7223). The Legislative Committee also welcomes district directors and staff to provide recommendations or referrals for directors they believe would enjoy working in this capacity.
