River Celebration Includes Guided Boat Tour

Harrisburg, PA-On June 5, take a special one-hour guided tour aboard the Pride of the Susquehanna Riverboat. At 3:00 p.m. Gil Hirschel and Jennifer Hoffman of the Susquehanna River Basin Commission will discuss the history of the river while voyagers watch for birds and other wildlife. The tour is being offered in conjunction with the annual Susquehanna River Celebration. The discounted price of $4.50 per adult, $2.50 per children ages 3-12 is being offered. Ages 2 and under are free.

Before launching on the boat tour, plan to spend some time at the Susquehanna River Celebration, located at Harrisburg's Carousel Pavilion. Beginning at 11:00 a.m. and lasting until 4:00 p.m. a variety of activities, centered around the event's We All Live Downstream theme, have been scheduled including exhibits, music, puppet shows, animals, games, crafts and food. The annual Susquehanna River Celebration a free event, held rain or shine, is co-sponsored by the PA Chesapeake Bay Education Office (administered by the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Inc.), the City of Harrisburg, and The River 97.3 WRVV. Financial support for the event is provided through an education grant with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
