PA Students Show Their True Colors

Five talented, young artists have been named winners in the annual PACD conservation poster contest. The contest, open to students in grades K-12, offers young people the opportunity to express their views on natural resources through artistic expression. Posters were submitted by nearly 100 students, representing districts from across the state.

Murray Laite, Sarah Long, and Luetta Gross served as the honorary judges. They were faced with the difficult task of determining a winner among dozens of quality entries in each category.

Winning artists are awarded with a framed certificate and a check from the PACD Auxiliary. The winning posters will be on display during the PACD/SCC Joint Annual Conference. They will then be entered in the National Association of Conservation Districts’ nationwide poster contest. This year’s winners are:

  • Grades K - 1: Raymond Heromin (Northumberland County)
  • Grades 2 - 3: Jennifer Evanisky (Mifflin County)
  • Grades 4 - 6: Robert Heinrich (Sullivan County)
  • Grades 7 - 9: Roxanne Barton (Clinton County)
  • Grades 10 -12: Michael Kensinger (Blair County)

PACD.Org: Better than Ever…

In late August, the PACD launched a new and improved association website. The address, still www.pacd.org, may be the only feature of the site that remains unchanged. The new site is easier to navigate, visually pleasing, and above all, a much more useful communication tool for the association and the conservation districts. PACD welcomes any questions or comments regarding the new site, simply e-mail any feedback to pacd@pacd.org.
