Chesapeake Bay Educational Exhibits

Exhibit materials include displays and supporting print material. Exhibits must be borrowed via county conservation districts.

Conservation Districts Cover a Lot of Ground General Table top display provides a general description of Pennsylvania's conservation districts and lists ways that citizens can become involved with their local district.
Farm*A*Syst Farmers, General Agricultural

Table-top display encourages farmers to self-evaluate areas on their farm that could contaminate their well water and drinking supply.

Fencing for the Future Farmers Highlights advantages of Streambank Fencing
The Future of the Bay Lies in Everyone's Hands. Are You Ready to Help? General Provides tips for preventing toxics, nutrients, and soils from eroding into waterways. Also provides descriptions of these specific types of pollution and the link between Pennsylvania and the Chesapeake Bay.
Good Neighbors Local Government Encourages local governments to work to create communities that are safe, economically viable and environmentally sensitive
Interactive Touch Screen Display Agriculture, Local Government, Residential Participants are given a situation and requested to make choices within 10 second time frames. In response, the water pollution bar either increases or decreases. Pollution explanation is provided, ongoing.
Nutrient Management is E-E-Easy Farmers Focuses on the three E's of Nutrient Management: Economic, Efficiency and the Environment. The display also has an optional panel outlining a 10-step plan for developing a nutrient management plan.
PA Environmental and Agricultural Conservation Certification of Excellence (PEACCE) Farmers The PEACCE program aims to promote the use of agricultural practices that enhance responsible environmental stewardship.
The Pennsylvania Chesapeake Bay Program General Promotes the Pennsylvania Chesapeake Bay Program and the "We All Live Downstream" theme. Explains that PA is the "lifeline" of the Bay and that the Chesapeake serves as a good indicator of water quality in PA.
Say Yes to Improved Farming and a Healthier Environment, Adopt No-Till Farmers Explains the benefits of no-till and how to get started.

Sprayer Rinse System Farmers

Encourages farmers to install a cleaning system on their pesticide sprayers, to save time and protect water quality.

Can be used with fact sheets available from PSU Cooperative Extension: Agrichemical Fact Sheet, and Sprayer Cleaning.

W-Otter Pollution Solutions General Reinforces that clean water is important to animals and humans, Provides practical solutions to water pollution
