The grant monies were used entirely for the purpose of the sixth grade Youth Ag Expo, title "Our Heritage = Our Future." 160-plus students, from three different schools, attended the event. Stations were set up for students to revolve to and from. During the expo project coordinators learned students perspectives on agriculture and found that students did not fully understand the industry. The strategies farmers use to protect soil and water was also a focus. Students discussed how farming impacts water quality, watersheds, wildlife, the economy and quality of life. To assess student understanding and promote family education, camp participants completed a photo journal of their experiences.
