Cambria County Soil Sampler Project - Part 2
This project featured field demonstrations, conducted with a soil sampler device. Grant funds were used to cover the cost of establishing a display at the Cambria County Fair. According to district staff soil testing is not being conducted on a routine basis due to time constraints of farm operators and that this could lead to improper nutrient management and possibly nonpoint source pollution. The project goal was to increase the frequency of soil testing on Cambria County farms.

Soils Educational Models
The district created soil monoliths and a soil aggregate model to teach soil ecology. Models will be used to educate local organizations about erosion and sedimentation entering our streams. The models provide us with the ability to show the different characteristics of various types of soils without digging multiple soil pits.
