Farm*A*Syst: Farmstead Assessment SystemFarm*A*Syst in Pennsylvania Farm*A*Syst was first used in Pennsylvania in the Pequea-Mill Creeks Project in Lancaster County, where a short version was adapted and has been successfully used with dairy farmers since 1991. A series of worksheets plus guidance materials designed for statewide use in Pennsylvania was finished 1997 as part of a cooperative effort between Penn State Cooperative Extension, the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. The first six worksheets covered water wells, pesticide and fertilizer storage and handling, household wastewater, barnyard conditions, milkhouse waste, and streams and drainageways. A seventh worksheet covering Petroleum Storage and Handling was added in 1999.
