Fayette County Children's Water Festival
This one-day educational event for students featured hands-on
classroom exercises and keynote presentations through which students
learned about the importance of water to all life, the link between
water, plants, animals, and soil, and the effects of human activities
on water. To prepare participants, a pre-festival program was
presented to all classes. This program provides basic information
on water, the water cycle, and protecting water quality.

2003 Fayette County Children's Water Festival
The conservation district held a Children's Water Festival at
Penn State Fayette Campus in May 2003. The festival was a one-day
event for sixth grade students, during which the students were
educated on topics like the water cycle, the links between water
and plants, wildlife and soil, and the effects of human activities
on water.

Bear Creek Festival
This public education/outreach event focuses on natural resource
conservation, watershed protection, conservation program and concepts
promotion, education about the biota and flora of the area, and
the importance of biodiversity. More than 25 state, federal and
public organizations, as well as individual experts on environmental
topics, had exhibits, demonstrations and presentations at the
festival, which is the only all-inclusive environmental education
event throughout Schuylkill and surrounding counties.

Washington County Children's Groundwater Festival
Nearly 1,200 sixth grade students attended the festival modeled
after the Groundwater Festival which originated in Nebraska. Aspects
of nonpoint source pollution were demonstrated and solutions discovered
with hand-on-activities. Students received a book cover illustrating
the groundwater cycle and a comic book about water quality.
